I am in the process of changing careers. I have a background in
Engineering. I am currently taking the tests to obtain my MCSE
certification for Windows 2000. I don't have much experience with
networking so will be a "paper" MCSE once I complete the tests. How will
that hinder me in terms of obtaining a job in the IT field? What other

I passed MCSE NT with TCP/IP and IIS electives. As these have retired,
I thought I will have to pass two new electives, when I upgrade to MCSE
2000. Now I hear that TCP/IP and IIS would be valid for MCSE 2000 but only
till May 2002, after which I will have pass two other electives to renew
my MCSE 2000 certificate? Is this true?

Here is what I think is the question of the year for many of us. I
have spent five years in systems engineering and LAN/WAN networking. I
also have a CCNP, MCSE (4.0) and CCSA (from Checkpoint). I still cannot
secure a job here in Seattle. Which is a better city to secure a position
and a paycheck? Or, is my Layer 3/4 background just obsolete?
